Slasher film is a sub-genre of the horror film genre typically involving a psychopathic killer stalking and killing a sequence of victims in a graphically violent manner, often with a cutting tool such as a chainsaw or in the case of ‘Nightmare of Elm Street’ he uses knifes as his hands. A slasher horror will contain huge amounts of blood and gore. The killer normally wears a mask and the reason for his killings often relate to past events or experiences which the younger community’s parents have inflicted on the killer. The young community is a target for his anger and resent.

In the dreams of his victims, a spectral child murderer stalks the children of the members of the lynch mob that killed him.
